History of Art

Welcome to History of Art at the University of Edinburgh

Our courses explore visual culture from a global perspective while offering a firm foundation in the history of European art from the early middle ages to the present day.

Classes are taught by internationally recognized scholars and take advantage of Edinburgh's national galleries, museums, libraries and thriving contemporary art scene.

Our undergraduate programme includes independent projects, which give students the opportunity to work and research within the galleries, museums and historic collections in the city and surrounding areas.
